Are You A Truth Seeker? I am too.

And, being inquisitive is the first step to being a truth seeker.

From a very young age, my life was a channel for constant learning and education. With a librarian mother, educator father, and a grandmother among the first women to attend college, the commitment to keep learning and growing, mostly in a formal educational environment, was one of our most revered family values. In everything they did, they were asking people to be a truth seeker.

When we needed answers, we turned to research and education. This put on extremely heavy focus on the physical, and what I saw before me to find the truth and find practical applications for those proven principles.

Yet, none of this taught me how to find courage in times of self-doubt, peace in the midst of chaos, or centeredness when feeling less-than or stuffed in a box. To find that truth, well, that required deeper work that wasn’t taught in a traditional educational institution.

Growing into the ability to find your truth

Having been born into a family with a strong history of depression, I quickly learned how powerful the mind was. How it spoke to you in un-kind ways. How it could begin to navigate your life on choices that were not fully aligned with your truth.  I learned that the mind could also help you find your truth. It was important to find solutions beyond the traditional to stay centered.

And, because accreditations were so extremely valued in my life, I managed to extensively study, become certified in and finally master dozens of alternative therapies and modalities. From all this learning, I realize one important thing.

The only person who has your answers and who can find the truth for you and your life is YOU.

I am not alone on this journey. After decades of coaching incredibly gifted, intelligent, and compassionate women, I’ve also realized the only person that they doubt in the decision-making process the most is themselves. We must find our truth and the answers for ourselves.

We are all Seekers. Seekers of ways to find your truth.

Beyond this, we long for companionship, understanding and connection. We depend on the support of others and make our decisions based on their opinions. We are constantly seeking approval outside of ourselves.

I believe it is because we haven’t been given the tools to quickly find a place of inner peace, uncover the best answers to a challenge, and then have the courage to take action toward it’s resolution.

When looking to find the truth, we all must

1) Gather information from credible sources
2) Investigate. Listen. Understand. Journal.
3) Connect with your own inner wisdom.
4) Make a decision.
4) Create a Plan
5) Take the first step. Then, the second, and so on.
6) Tweak the path along the way.
7) Celebrate those steps.
